Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarships for his family as well as service to his community. First his parents raised him by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on their Eufala farm. He was the youngest of nine children. On the football field, he competed with his three brothers for Oklahoma. All three brothers were All-Americans. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the players for just one season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the country. The three seasons he was the team's starter, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. Third scholarship he was named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon graduated with a qualification in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in the college. In Tampa He played with the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute in the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no surprise that In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of America's top 10 young men. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighted 256 lbs. He was captain of his university team in the year 1975. He became the associate director of athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
